Which Questions are not appropriate during a job interview?
During a job interview, you are not required to answer any question that you feel is inappropriate or makes you uncomfortable. Some examples of questions that you may choose not to answer include:
Questions about your age, race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation: It is illegal for an employer to discriminate against you based on these characteristics, and you are not required to disclose this information during a job interview.
Questions about your health or disability status: An employer may not ask questions about your health or disability unless it is related to your ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Questions about your marital or family status: It is not appropriate for an employer to ask about your personal relationships or family plans.
Questions about your salary history: An employer may not ask about your previous salaries, but may ask about your salary expectations for the role you are applying for.
If you are asked a question that you feel is inappropriate or makes you uncomfortable, you can politely decline to answer. You might say something like, "I prefer not to answer that question" or "I'm sorry, but I don't feel comfortable disclosing that information."
