OIC CAREER OPPORTUNITY



The Office of the Insurance Commissioner's (OIC) Company Licensing Unit is seeking a motivated and qualified individual to fill a Company Licensing Analyst (Functional Program Analyst 3) position. This position is assigned to the Company Supervision Division, located in our Tumwater office.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $4,987 - $6,705.

DUTIES

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct detailed reviews of licensing application filings.
  • Review all materials submitted by applicants seeking licensure or registration in the State of Washington.
  • Determine whether the companies meet all state requirements for licensure and registration.
  • Communicate with insurance and auxiliary-line company representatives, attorneys, and company consultants regarding application deficiencies requiring action.
  • Provide information and guidance to regulated entities, other OIC divisions, other state or federal regulators, and the public regarding insurance and auxiliary line licensing and compliance inquiries.
  • Review, research, and investigate submissions and notifications of changes involving insurance and auxiliary lines.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:


You must meet one of the required qualification options listed and any additional qualifications included in the required qualifications section.


  • Option 1: Six (6) years of qualifying professional work experience in the banking and/or insurance industry, and/or regulatory compliance.

  • Option 2: Associate degree in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or other related fields AND four (4) years of qualifying professional work experience in the banking and/or insurance industry, and/or regulatory compliance.

  • Option 3: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or other related fields AND two (2) years of qualifying professional work experience in the banking and/or insurance industry, and/or regulatory compliance.

  • Option 4: Master's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or other related fields AND one (1) years of qualifying professional work experience in the banking and/or insurance industry, and/or regulatory compliance.
Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education.





Qualifying professional work experience is defined as experience working as a technician, examiner, analyst, specialist, underwriter, or agent at an insurance agency, insurance company, bank, savings and loan association, finance and investment firm, or at a municipal office, state, or federal agency.




Additionally, after qualifying by the method above:

  • Basic level Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and OneNote).
  • Basic level Adobe Acrobat skills.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior insurance regulatory experience with a governmental agency or state authorized insurance company.
  • Prior experience reviewing for compliance with insurance laws and regulations, especially Title 48 RCW and Title 284 WAC.
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote).
  • Intermediate level Adobe Acrobat skills.
  • Working towards or have an industry specific designation such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI), Certified Insurance Examiner (CIE), Accredited Insurance Regulator (APIR), or Professional Insurance Regulator (PIR).
