Description: Description:Alsum Transport, Inc, a subsidiary of Alsum Farms & Produce, Inc., is looking for a full-time Diesel Technician! Alsum Farms & Produce, Inc. is a grower, packer, and shipper of potatoes & onions located in Friesland, WI. As a Diesel Technician, you would perform routine and emergency maintenance of Alsum fleet equipment, specifically on our trailer fleet. Strong knowledge of trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, and electrical systems is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install and test products, equipment, and machinery and provide instructions to drivers on proper usage
- Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve or repair issues
- Inspect various parts of trucks and trailers, including brake systems, wheel bearings, and steering mechanisms to
- ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively
- Follows a schedule for recommended replacement of fleet vehicles
- Follows procedures, policies, and safety protocols
- Collaborates with Managers and other Service Technicians
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in the industry preferred
- Previous experience as a diesel mechanic preferred
- Need to have complete set of tools (Specialized tools are owned by Alsum Transport)
Job Details:
Job Type: Regular Full-Time
Job Schedule: Monday through Friday; 6:00am to 2:30pm
Work Location: Friesland, WI Requirements: Required Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated and able to function as part of a team
- Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software
- Demonstrates time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service trucking fleet
- Comfortable working in awkward positions or cramped spaces
- Experience with or ability to learn company's EAM system
- Valid state commercial driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Various repetitive movements. Good manual dexterity to perform required duties
- Exposure to airborne particles or fumes
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly, up to 75 pounds
- Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas
