Pay Range: $25-$30 DOE
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, four ten-hour shifts
Position Summary:
Assists in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and center policies and procedures. The Surgical Technician (Scrub Tech) will prepare supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed. Will be responsible for anticipating and meeting the needs of the surgeon within a sterile field. Responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe processing of surgical instruments and equipment to support optimal patient care. Adheres strictly to sterilization and disinfection protocols, contributing to a sterile and safe surgical environment. Will ensure effective communication between the Clinical Director, RNs, physicians, and other staff. Will facilitate efficient flow of patients throughout testing and treatment procedures to deliver the highest standard of patient care available.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in preparing the operating room for planned procedures and assists with room turn over.
- Scrubs in and assists surgeon during procedures.
- Performs pre-operative tests such as the Argos.
- Runs the LenSx laser and ensures all parameters for LenSx patients have been determined.
- Assists in focusing ECP monitor during glaucoma treatment.
- Must comply with HIPAA and OSHA Regulations and company confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensures instruments are maintained in optimal condition and prepared for use in surgical procedures.
- Assists in preparing the operating room for planned procedures and assists with room turn over.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation related to instrument processing activities.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Trains and supports new Technicians.
- Greets patients in a pleasant and professional manner to ensure a positive experience.
Auxiliary Functions:
- Responsible for opening, stocking, cleaning and closing the OR and LenSx room.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and provide materials manager with order list.
- Monitor proper cleaning of surgical equipment including phaco, gurney, instruments in the autoclave, etc.
- Reviews case chart prior to each procedure.
- Collaborate closely with clinical leaders, registered nurses, and Operating Room (OR) staff to meet instrument needs and support surgical schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- One year of surgical technician or sterile processing experience.
- Completion of Surgical Technician certification or Sterile Processing certification program.
- Ophthalmic surgical technician experience preferred.
- One year of medical experience required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements/Typical Working Conditions:
Environment: Primarily a temperature-controlled facility.
- Work may require prolonged standing, some bending, stooping and stretching.
- Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate surgical equipment, a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
- Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate in person, by phone, or over video.
- Requires occasional lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds.
- Requires transferring patients in a wheelchair to and from the OR as well as monitor patient transfer to a gurney.
Essential Physical Tasks:
Sight - sufficient to adjust small instruments, read physical documents, and images on a computer monitor.
Smell - sufficient to discern smoke/something burning, and other odors.
Hear - sufficient to hold face to face/telephone/video call conversations, and to discern other ambient noises.
Touch - sufficient to operate surgical equipment, keyboard, mouse, other standard office equipment, and writing implements.
Physical ability/strength - sufficient to lift, twist, turn, reach, climb, kneel, squat, sit, walk, stand, bend as needed throughout a standard shift.
Compensation details: 25-30 Hourly Wage
