Summary:


The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist. The position is a part of the Mission Services Operations team and reports to the Vice President of Mission Services. This role will provide Human Resources expertise and leadership within the HR team.


The Senior HR Generalist position is a role that balances the need for structure, process, and policy with the need for a relational leader approach in a highly relational organization. While this role serves the denominational offices, it collaborates with conferences and affiliates to best serve the mission. The HR team provides services such as, but not limited to, Recruiting, performance management (goal and yearend processes), payroll administration support, policies and procedures, employee relations, development and HR compliance, and other aspects of the employee and leader career cycle In the organization.

Requirements:



Responsibilities:


Collaborate with VP of Mission Services and management teams to ensure strategic alignment of human resources goals and objectives.


Execute the recruitment process to include the Development of recruitment plans, sourcing strategies, and resources.


Job posting, phone screening, interviewing, and communication with candidates and managers.


Lead regional performance management efforts to include reward and recognition, conflict resolution, and corrective action.


Outline employee development to include planning, coordination, design, orientation, and training support for employees of all levels.


Support deployment of HR programs, including performance management, salary administration in partnership with Finance, staffing, headcount planning/reporting, retention, and career development.


Ensure compliance and current regulations are incorporated in policies and practices.


Provide HR guidance and advice using talent within the HR team as appropriate


Monitor the job market and prepare analyses and summaries of the main movements and trends in order to strategize with VP of Mission Services and team on organizational implications


Maintains confidentiality and exercises good judgment


Establish and maintain relationships with Colleges and Universities and plan partnership activities.


Provide ad-hoc reporting and analytics as required.


Complete other special projects as needed.



Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Management, or related


Excellent communication skills - oral and written


Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and deliver outcomes


End-user expertise with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)


Paylocity or other payroll system


Strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to serve others.


Positive attitude and non-anxious presence


Willingness to support the Covenant mission and ethos



Education and Experience:


Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Management, Operations, or related


7+ years of experience as a Generalist, Director or other function within HR.


Experience in developing and leading teams


SHRM Certifications or other HR certifications desired.

Environmental Conditions


Chicago-based position. Limited domestic /international travel while also able to effectively engage in virtual communication and engagements. Must be versatile and able to work for prolonged segments sitting or standing. Technology and HR systems, as well as HR vendors and resources, must be effectively used. Proficient in Microsoft and Windows applications, social media, HR platforms, cloud-based and other database management, etc. Must be able to lift or move items, less than 40 lbs occasionally.
