Description:

East Tennessee Children's Hospital is seeking an innovative, compassionate Lead Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) to spearhead an exciting new initiative aimed at integrating mental health practitioners into primary care settings across the Greater Knoxville area.
This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community by providing essential psychological services in primary care clinics. As the Lead BHC, you will be at the forefront of expanding our integrated care program, playing a key role in its development, implementation, and growth.


BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for coordination and provision of psychological service to primary care clinics, including brief assessment relevant to the primary care setting, focused intervention on a variety of presenting concerns, effective communication with primary care team, and efficient documentation. May include supervision of psychology trainees.

Vice President-Patient Care Services and Chief Medical Officer




JOB REQUIREMENTS




  • Minimum Education




    • Doctorate Required




    • PhD or PsyD in psychology with appropriate focus on child, adolescent, or early development, including completion of an internship in an APA or CPA accredited psychology program









  • Minimum Work Experience




    • Post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology or integrated healthcare is preferred. Prior pediatric experience required.









  • Required Licenses/Certifications for position




    • Licensed Psychologist






DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Leadership & Coordination: Lead the strategic growth of the integrated care program, ensuring seamless integration of psychological services within primary care clinics.





  • Clinical Expertise: Provide brief yet effective psychological assessments, interventions, and evidence-based treatments for a wide range of behavioral health concerns, tailored to the primary care environment. Applicants should have a PhD or PsyD in psychology or appropriate related field.





  • Collaboration: Work closely with primary care teams, fostering strong, productive relationships for holistic patient care and effective communication.





  • Documentation & Efficiency: Ensure thorough and accurate documentation, maintaining the high standards of care expected in a fast-paced clinical setting.





  • Supervision & Mentorship: Potentially provide supervision and guidance to psychology trainees, helping to cultivate the next generation of behavioral health professionals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
