Position: Solar Repair Technician Lead |
Description: The Solar Repair Technician Lead position leads a team in repairing and maintaining roof and ground-mounted solar systems. This person will follow all company and safety policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Load and unload company vehicles
- Maintain appropriate stock on a truck to complete service repairs and double-check that material for the job is loaded before leaving the shop
- Install, repair, and maintain rooftop and ground-mount solar PV systems including: flashing, racking, module-level power electronics (Micro inverters/Optimizers), array wiring, and junction boxes
- Work on roofs, ladders, crawlspaces, attics, and other residential and commercial areas
- Manage, lead, train, and motivate a crew of 1-3 technicians
- Accurately pull material based on the construction plans
- Ability to test, commission, and troubleshoot system components
- Ability to read schematics and follow technical installation instructions
- Accurately upload required information to our work platform / CRM / and other applications
- Work in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
- Maintain a clean job site, work truck, and warehouse
- Competently install safety equipment and enforce safety policies
- Complete quarterly safety gear and tool audits on company vehicles
- Complete weekly vehicle inspection reports on company vehicles
- Report directly to the Senior Manager of Post Install with any job-related issues or employee issues
- Interact with clients in a respectful manner
- Perform other related duties as required
- Follow all company and safety policies and procedures
- Obtain OSHA 10 safety training (course provided by employer)
- Obtain 18-Hour Solar PV Boot Camp through HeatSpring (course provided by employer)
- Overnight travel will be required
Required skills and abilities
- Extensive knowledge of PV equipment and installation
- Be comfortable climbing a ladder and working on a roof
- Be comfortable with working outside in all weather conditions
- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to maintain a professional attitude
- Ability to maintain company tools
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 1-year experience as a solar installer
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs repetitively
- Ability to climb ladders and work on roofs up to a 45-degree pitch
- Insurance Approved driving record and driver's license required
Required Tools and Equipment
- Personal hand tools required include screwdriver set or multi-tool (11 in 1) driver, wire strippers, diagonal wire cutters, impact-rated socket set, socket adapter, tool belt, bag, or backpack
- Weather-appropriate attire with at least one piece of Purelight Power Company apparel worn at all times when on the clock
- Weather and job-appropriate footwear
