JOB DESCRIPTION

Nash Community College is seeking a confident, community oriented, and qualified Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer. This executive level position has direct oversight of the financial, safety, facilities, and human resource activities of the organization. This is a hands-on role which requires in-depth involvement working with the teams in these functions. This position participates in management activities of the College, and is responsible for collaboration, teamwork, and overall support of the direction and vision of the organization.


Nash Community College is located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on 125 acres midway between Nashville and Rocky Mount, less than a mile off U.S. Highway 64 Bypass and U.S. Interstate 95 in Nash County.


The college was founded in 1967 and is a public two-year post-secondary educational institution with an open-door admissions policy. Approximately 12,000 citizens participate in programs at Nash Community College annually.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist the President to ensure successful accomplishment of the institutional mission by providing leadership and expertise in assessing, identifying, formulating and aiding in implementing NCC mission among college employees and providing leadership for the continued evaluation and improvement among each department.
  • Supervise the Associate Vice President of Finance whose responsibilities include providing oversight for all accounting and payroll activities, supervision to the Director of Budgeting and Disbursements, Director of Payroll and Receivables, Director of Campus Store and Related Enterprises, Conference Center Manager, Director of Child Development Center, Cafİ Manager and Receptionist/Switchboard Operator.
  • Supervise the Director of Facilities who is responsible for the Physical Plant and other property of NCC including assurance that the physical plant services are efficient and economical. Responsible for overseeing all full-time and part-time maintenance staff and custodial staff.
  • Supervise the Master Gardener who is responsible for skilled landscaping and manual work necessary to maintain campus grounds. Responsible for overseeing all full-time and part-time groundskeepers.
  • Supervise the Director of Human Resources who is responsible for supporting employees and ensuring adherence to all personnel policies, recruitment, classification, compensation, benefits administration, mediation, records maintenance, reports and staff development.
  • Supervise the Safety Director/Chief of Campus Police. Provide direction as needed.
  • Responsible for the preparation, modification, and overall compliance of NCC's State, County, and Institutional Funds Budgets; monthly and ad hoc budgetary reporting as necessary for the Board of Trustees, College President, System Office, Federal Government, and third-party grantors.
  • Responsible for implementation and compliance with NCC's Cash Management Plan including investing County and Institutional funds; reviewing Business Office operational procedures to maximize earnings and efficiency.
  • Responsible for overall safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and NCC's physical assets including: contracting for public safety services; contracting for electronic security monitoring; contracting for electronic fire alarm monitoring; securing insurance coverage for loss or damage to property.
  • Serve as construction coordinator when either acquiring or constructing capital assets; responsible for compliance with all procedures relative to acquiring capital assets; and serves as liaison with architects, contractors, and engineers during all phases of capital planning and construction.
  • Serve on the College's Senior Leadership Team and Administrative Council (AC).
  • Participate in College events and activities.
  • Maintain regular on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations consistent with expectations and College policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls.
  • P erform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
  • Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC.
  • Serve on various committees as assigned.
  • Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Accounting or Business from a regionally accredited institution with 5 years' relevant experience.
