Description:
Under the direction of the Director of AL Kids the Lee's Summit Children's Pastor oversees Children's Ministry programs and events related to birth-5th grade at the Lee's Summit Campus. This involves equipping and leading volunteers and performing all logistical and administrative duties required to create an engaging environment for children.
- Be committed to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18; 1 Peter 2:2) by assembling for instruction in God's Word and engaging in the personal study of God's Word. - Responsibly use the resources at your disposal to foster the mission and vision of Abundant Life (1 Peter 5:1-4). - Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42) as well as the discipleship ministry (Matthew 28:18-20). - Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9). - Be committed to giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12).
- Lead and supervise the Lee's Summit Children's Ministry Team from birth to 5th grade. - Invest in and develop Lee's Summit staff that reports to you. - Conduct weekly meetings with the children's ministry staff at Lee's Summit. - Inspire and enlist volunteers by participating in Voluntours and onboarding. - Welcome new families as they are entering and leaving the building. - Have at least one coffee or lunch with new, prospective families on a regular basis. - Lead, develop, and recruit the Lee's Summit Elementary Volunteer Teams including communicators, small group leaders and team leadership in Kindergarten to 1st grade, 2nd and 3rd Grade and 4th and 5th Grade environments. - Help create curriculum and resources as needed. - Help plan and prepare yearly calendar as needed. - Provide leadership and pastoral care for all mile marker classes and celebrations. - Teach in environments at least once a month. Enlist and equip others to teach as well. - Ensure that all applicable rooms are appropriately equipped and presentable for ministry activities. - Shepherd the children and families in AL Kids ministry by providing care, coaching, and prayer as needed. - Conduct weekly meetings with the children's ministry staff at Lee's Summit. - Attend campus pastors' regular meetings with Director of Children's Ministry. - Communicate with parents on an as-needed basis. - Prepare and supply the Lee's Summit budget to the Director of Children's Ministry for annual review. - Provide support and leadership for events, such as volunteer appreciation, VBS, etc. - Practice discretion and confidentiality in the dissemination of information. - Attend First Step and other ministry events as needed. - Take part in the pastoral rotations of being on-call, making hospital visits, and conducting weddings and funerals to serve the community in any way needed. - Participate and provide input and ideas for other campuses. - Other duties as assigned.
A general knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Success in this role will be achieved by a highly motivated, task-oriented leader of leaders, who can inspire volunteers to implement the AL curriculum in an engaging and well-organized manner. A healthy and effective communicator toward children, parents and volunteers is vital to the success of this position. A high level of organization is required to oversee the execution of Sunday mornings, in which hundreds of children are present each week. -A minimum of 3 years of experience in a large church leadership capacity is required. -Ministry and children's education experience is preferred.
A typical work week consists of Sunday through Thursday but may require additional night or weekend work.
