Description: Class A CDL Driver - Longview, WA
Denali (formerly Swanson Bark in Longview Washington) has several LOCAL job opportunities for Class A CDL drivers. We have a diverse fleet, with flatbeds, end dumps, walking floors, dry vans, and blower trucks. We deliver to local and regional businesses, and private homes. We operate Monday through Friday with Saturday shifts available (some Saturday work is required). We have a great benefit and pay package. Requirements:
- Must have Class A CDL
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission truck with a gross weight of 26001 lbs. and above.
Summary/Purpose:
- Load, unload, deliver, and/or pick up material as scheduled by the Dispatcher.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Load wood products in an efficient manner.
- Deliver various wood products to customers in a timely manner.
- Independently read, write, and follow instructions of dispatcher.
- Deliver excellent customer service while in contact with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
- Keep accurate records (electronic and/or manual logbooks) of deliveries made and non-driving time spent on the job.
- Keep accurate records of amounts of material delivered, times, and other necessary information to accurately complete paperwork for the effective execution of the job.
- Strap down and/or tarp loads.
- Install traction devices (chains) as needed during inclement weather.
- Sweep and/or squeegee trailer between each load to avoid contamination of products.
- Leave each truck and trailer driven in a clean and operable state for future use.
- Use tools, when necessary, to perform tasks associated with the safe, effective delivery of materials.
- Drop and hook up different trailers as assigned for delivery.
- Operate different types of equipment in the process of loading, delivering, and unloading products including front-end loaders, possum belly, walking floor, flatbed, dry van, dump truck, and either standard or automatic transmissions.
- Unload overhead bunkers into trailers.
- Know and follow all DOT regulations.
- Perform pre-trip inspections of the truck and engine.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess a Class A CDL, preferably with doubles endorsement.
- Previous experience driving with 40-53ft. trailers on highways, in city traffic, on county and gravel roads, day and night, with the ability to maneuver and back up in tight quarters.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate the following types of trucks - straight, retail, dump.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate the following types of trailers - possum belly, walking floor, flatbed, dry van
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Ability to comply with all DOT, FMCSR, and company regulations including, but not limited to, passing drug and alcohol testing prior to hiring and at random times thereafter.
- Must have a 3-year, accident-free DMV record.
- Ability to learn the products offered and their uses.
- Available to work weekends on a rotating basis.
Weekend work is 1 Saturday per month
Tools and Equipment:
- Hand tools, rakes, sweepers, squeegee, shovel, rake, broom, tie-down straps, tarp and crank handle, pry bar, wrench, hammer.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to reach, squat, bend.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders of up to 75ft in height.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Ability to maneuver broom, shovel, rake, etc.
- Ability to move on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to throw tie-down straps, and tarp loads with repetitive shoulder motion.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to reach over the head for use of overhead bunker and strapping/tarping loads.
- Ability to use hand tools such as a wrench, pry bar, hammer, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the wood products industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Sit - 1.5 hours at a time / Up to 6 hours in an 8-hour day
- Stand/Walk - .5 hours as a time per load / Up to 2 hours in an 8-hour day
- Lift - Occasional up to 25 pounds
- Lift - Seldom up to 50 pounds
