Position: Field Construction Manager


Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Field Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of signage installation, from initial planning to final completion. This role requires strong project management skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of signage installation processes. Key responsibilities include coordinating with project management and field service teams to ensure signage is installed in accordance with documented intent, resolving escalations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing subcontractors, and overseeing site surveys and installations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.






ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:






Project Management and Collaboration:



  • Collaborate with Project Management and Field Service team demands, resolving escalations and providing best solutions for the client.

  • Proactively identifies, addresses and communicates issues that could put the project at risk. Resolves installation escalations and communicates with Project Management Team.

  • Communicates via reports and meeting cadences with internal stakeholders on overall project field construction milestones, capacity and resource forecasting- Internal stakeholders include but not limited to the following departments: Account Management/Sales, Design, Finance, Pre-Production and Manufacturing.

  • Conduct all necessary meetings to ensure all relevant internal and external partners are clearly informed of their deadlines and responsibilities

  • Maintain highly organized project portfolio within M1, the Cima server and other program specific platforms required by the company and/or our clients






Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving:



  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot fabrication and/or electrical issues discovered while installing, servicing or repairing signs and provide direction to fix problems or issues encountered.

  • Collaborating with Technical Design on how products should be built and Installed.

  • Respond to all Technical Questions presented from any subcontractors and internal departments, included but not limited to: Project Managers, Project Administrators, and Service Coordinators.






Field Work and Site Management:



  • Ensure all signage is being installed in a safe manner in accordance with site plans and engineering provided.

  • Travel may be required for the installation, service or repair of signs according to client specifications and on a variety of structures throughout the US. Travel may also be required for training, oversight and management of team members or subcontractors.

  • Verify that proper permits are in place prior to installation, service or repair work being performed.

  • Assist with estimating and reviewing installation project costs as needed.

  • Oversee sub-contracting teams as needed to ensure compliance with all sub-contractor agreement regulations, requirements and permits.

  • Inspect and survey worksite; ensure compliance with all company and state OSHA safety standards. Ensures crews use personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary for installation activity (harness and lanyard, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, welding shield and jackets, etc.).

  • Manage field and site surveys as needed, following Cima's customer specific survey documentation forms.

  • Document job progress and take completion photos of all signage for Project Managers.

  • Builds and/or identifies a strong installer base both geographically and technically to ensure installations are done as seamlessly as possible.














QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:






Technical Skills and Experience:



  • Ability to read and interpret drawings as well as a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Ability to read and interpret various documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and related documentation.

  • Must be mechanical inclined and able to use tools, power equipment and digging equipment.

  • Sign industry experience and multi-site roll out management a plus

  • Extensive understanding of computers and technology






Soft Skills and Interpersonal Abilities:



  • Good communication skills and ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to work independently and taking responsibility, and work under pressure to maintain schedules with quality work.

  • Has solid negotiation skills with the ability to resolve concerns in a positive manner.

  • Effectively communicates with all stakeholders of a project/program: Customers, Vendors and Account / Upper Management.






Experience and Qualifications:



  • 4 to 6 years' experience preferred, Management experience of 3 to 4 years preferred.

  • Work in fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to lift, load, and unload all supplies and signs up to 150 pounds physically and up to 1,000 pounds with cranes or ladder trucks. Also they need to be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles; utilize feet and legs or hands and arms; maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or navigating narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and to reach with hands and arms. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, odors, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, vehicular traffic, and dampness/humidity.


Incumbent must not be afraid of heights, and willing to work in all-weather types. Will need to be able to travel by automobile and plane. They will need to be able to sit for long periods of time in car, truck and airplane seats.
