Position: Commercial Design Associate |
Description: The Solar Designer is responsible for reviewing site assessments to develop system layouts. Each project involves creating designs that meet all municipality, utility, and financing requirements while ensuring client preferences outlined in sales contracts are considered. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ? Work closely with the Sales, Design, Procurement, and Operations departments to determine and implement the best solutions for each project. ? Take part in conducting site audits to collect structural, electrical, and related site information for use in the design, development, and execution of residential and commercial solar installation projects. ? Develop RFPs, evaluate quotes and proposals, and participate in the selection and implementation of third-party design and/or engineering groups, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure safe and successful execution. ? Manage the output of a third-party design provider as necessary to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and comprehensiveness of the designs produced. ? Coordinate with structural and electrical engineers to ensure design feasibility, accuracy, and code compliance. ? Lead the coordination and submission of permit and utility application packages and manage those applications through their lifecycles up to and including initial approvals through project closeout. ? Coordinate with Operations team members to update project tracking and schedules throughout the design, development, and procurement process, including advising on progress, delays, and challenges and assisting with securing any unique materials and/or equipment required to complete the project. ? Create, maintain, and organize comprehensive project documentation for each project. ? Assist with requisition of equipment and materials for residential and commercial projects through coordination with Procurement Manager. Confirm costs, payment terms, and delivery in accordance with project budgets, cash flow, and schedules. ? As a representative of the company, interface with customers as necessary during performance of job responsibilities with a positive attitude and customer service-minded approach and mentality.
