The Program Auditor role is a great fit for a resilient and professional individual who enjoys evaluating system effectiveness, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing outstanding customer service. A high level of emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, a thirst to learn, and knowledge of the health and safety management systems will be required for success in this role.
The ability to use technology with ease, communicate effectively, apply conflict resolution, work well with others in an office environment and adapt to the situation will prove invaluable in the role.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for conducting health and safety management system audits, reviewing and evaluating various materials related to SCSA Programs, and providing professional safety-related customer service to the industry, our members, clients, and other related stakeholders. SCSA utilizes a standardized audit tool and corresponding computer software to record H&S program audits. An audit is conducted via remote and in-person methods.
Responsibilities
- Conduct health and safety management system audits independently, and as a team when needed, following the established standards and guidelines.
- Provide professional and effective customer service and maintain strong communication with the clients throughout the audit process.
- Communicate audit results to the clients while providing reasonable recommendations as per the audit findings.
- Provide coaching and information to clients and SCSA employees in relation to SCSA program audits.
- Evaluate or review other program related content such as internal audits and client health and safety manuals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, aiming to support the team and achievement of SCSA's mission.
You will have knowledge in the following areas:
- Health and safety management systems and program auditing.
- Occupational health and safety legislation and Workers' Compensation Board policy.
- Computer Literacy (such as Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing software).
You will bring the following Skills:
- Effective customer service, interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in an objective and bias-free manner, while ensuring sound judgment, honesty, and integrity at all times.
- Ability to work well independently, within a team environment.
Required Education/Certifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience with health and safety management systems and auditing experience; two years of which within the construction trades preferred.
- Occupational Health and Safety certificate or diploma.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or National Health and Safety Administrator (NHSA) designation is a strong asset.
- A suitable combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Working Conditions
- Navigation of construction sites (outdoors and indoors) including movement over uneven terrain, use of ladders, scaffolds, and stairs, standing, stooping and crawling as needed.
- Sedentary office work, performance of repetitive motions and use of general office equipment.
- Some flexibility is necessary and expected regarding the hours of work.
- Regular overnight travel within the province is required.

Working Compensation Details:
- Starting annual salary will be between the minimum and mid-point of the range ($59,020 - $73,765)
- Health Benefits start from you first day and the monthly insurance premium is paid by SCSA (single or family coverage available).
- Upon successful completion of your 6 month probation you will receive a 2% salary increase
- Support provided for learning and development. We want you to grow with us!
- Social Committee host several fun activities throughout the year including summer BBQ's.
Monday to Thursday: 7:45a.m. to 4:30p.m. Friday worked: 7:45a.m. to 4:15p.m., off every other Friday Off on weekends and statutory holidays
