Job Description:




The SUNY Maritime College is looking to hire various Lifeguards to assists the Community Programs. The incumbent(s) are essential in order to run the classes offered in the pool throughout the year. They will be reporting to the Waterfront/Sailing and Conference Room department.


Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Ensures the safety of patrons of the SUNY Maritime Aquatics facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.

  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency

  • Open or securely close facility, depending on shift assignment

  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of higher-level emergency medical services

  • Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service

  • Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. (Washing down the pool deck, cleaning deck drains)

  • Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports including incident reports









Requirements:







Required Qualifications



  • American Red Cross or equivalent CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification




Preferred Qualifications



  • American Red Cross Basic Swim Instructor certification to assist Water Safety Instructor in instructing swim lessons







Additional Information:





Classification/Salary Range: The anticipated hourly rate for the position is $16.50-$25 per hour commensurate with experience and certifications. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when position is filled.
