Description: North Metro Fire Rescue District is now recruiting for the exciting position of Fire Chief. This position has been posted to both internal and external candidates. The Fire Chief is the top executive appointed by the Board of Directors ("Board") and is responsible for all administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the district under the governance of the Board. The Fire Chief oversees and directs the Executive Leadership Team in the development and implementation of rules, policies, and procedures for the efficient and effective functioning of the district and the varied services it provides to the community. These efforts will be consistent with the Board's approved strategic goals, direction, and policies, applicable laws (defined below), and in strong alignment with the district's Mission and Values. 2025 Salary: $230,000 to $256,000 annually. Pay is commensurate with applicable experience and qualifications. The Fire Chief is responsible for implementing the written or oral rules, policies, practices, or procedures (collectively, the "Rules") established by the Board, and carrying out the duties of the position in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, standards, and ordinances, including but not limited to the duties imposed by the Colorado Special District Act, C.R.S. 32-1-1002, applicable medical protocols, and applicable Fire Code(s) and Nationally Recognized Standards (collectively, "applicable laws"). Work is performed with a wide latitude for independent judgment and action. The Board measures performance through actions observed within (and sometimes beyond) the scope of conferences, meetings, report work products, labor and management relations, financial stewardship, interpersonal interactions, and the overall success of the district's programs and activities. This position is "at-will," which means the Board may terminate the employment relationship at any time and for no reason, subject only to the requirements of Federal and State law. Similarly, the employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time and for no reason, without prior notice. If the district and the Fire Chief have entered into an employment agreement, the terms of the employment agreement will supersede any conflicting provision in this Job Description.
