Position: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner- Emergency Medicine


Description:


Children s Specialty Group (CSG) is a physician-owned multi-specialty medical group practice comprised of over 200 pediatric specialists whose mission is to provide high quality healthcare to children and adolescents, train future clinicians, and conduct research to improve children s health. The physicians of CSG base their practices at Children s Hospital of The King s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia, the state s only free-standing children s hospital (206 beds) and only pediatric level 1 trauma center. This position is within the CSG Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. CHKD s emergency department (30 beds) cares for over 50,000 patients each year and is growing rapidly.




POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Advanced Practice providers will provide emergency care in the main treatment area of the emergency department in the late evenings and overnight. Providers will manage lower acuity patients independently and higher acuity patients in collaboration with pediatric emergency medicine physicians. Providers will be involved in caring for a wide spectrum of injury and illness. It is an excellent opportunity to enhance your pediatric acute care skills with access to didactics and mentored training.




EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING MINIMUM:

Current Virginia state license as a Registered Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Registered Family Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant holding a valid Compact State license. Minimum of 1 year clinical nursing experience in a critical care, urgent care, or emergency department preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. Current clinical competence required. BLS and PALS required.




Hours:

104 hours (13 shifts) per month
