Emergency and Trauma Services Director- FT Exempt- $97,281.60-$145,891.20 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description:
• Promotes the mission, vision and values of SPRHC. • Utilizing Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Regulations and Guidelines (CMS), establishes and maintains an active quality improvement plan and participants in infection control programs including attending regularly scheduled meetings. • Supervise, direct and evaluate assigned staff members through prescribed procedures. • Assures that all nursing services are provided in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of federal, state and local rules and regulations. • Within assigned work team, assumes responsibility for proactively identifying and resolving customer problems and requests for assistance. • Organizes workflow and prepares schedules, reviews and approves payroll including time sheets and leave time. • Assists with the preparation of short-term and long-range management plans; evaluates and determines proficiency level of the unit(s) activities and personnel. • Instructs and directs staff members regarding proper procedures and protocols of units, review all work products for compliance with standards, policies and procedures. • Schedules and coordinates all training, in-service and education for personnel. • Complete necessary processes for selection of new personnel. • Function as an expert practitioner who provides for the clinical needs in the Emergency and Trauma Department, both directly and indirectly. • Responsible for maintenance of the trauma registry. • Responsible for data collection and monitoring compliance. • Participates in data analysis and distributes reports to appropriate health team members. • Responsible for the development and monitoring of trauma clinical indicators and reports the findings to appropriate health team members. • Develops the plan for trauma, and emergency room related in-services and continuing educational activities working in collaboration with the appropriate staff members. • Assists the Medical Director in the investigation and resolution of problems and concerns in the area of trauma, and emergency room care. • Supports team objectives focusing on team results, handling conflict in a positive manner, sharing information and resources and listening effectively to team members while assuming responsibility for personal contributions. • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with all customers/patients by ensuring daily rounding is completed to build relationships. • Continually contribute to the success of SPHRC through support of the strategic plan pillars, which are service, quality, finance, people and growth. • Ensure the consideration of the role of cultural, social and behavioral factors in the accessibility, availability, acceptability and delivery of unit information and services. • Assess ever-changing processes and healthcare standard regulations to ensure effective and appropriate care standards are up-to-date through education opportunities. • Ensure all required licensing, certification and/or education requirements for assigned staff members are completed and up-to-date. • Maintains in-service log for programs delivered. Assist in developing modules for a self-directed orientation program for the unit(s). • Exhibits positive communication methods; conducts regular staff meetings to ensure dissemination of relevant work-related information is communicated. • Work one-on-one with nursing staff as needed to enhance the delivery of patient care. • Evaluate unit needs and equipment demands for proper and safe usage of equipment; call for service/initiate service process for repair or replacement. • Perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of the Director role. Minimum Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. Minimum of three years work experience in direct nursing care is required. One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
• Advanced clinical expertise in the practice of Medical/Surgical, Extended Care and Emergency nursing. • Ability to operate general office equipment including computer software applications (e-mail, surveillance equipment/cameras). • Knowledge of personnel management including conflict management skills, behavior modification methodology and documentation skills regarding performance management. • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to maintain and oversee multiple clinical interactions ensuring timeliness in response to needs of employees and patients. • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management, development and implementation of projects/programs. • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.
