National Industry Promotion Fund Administrator | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description: The National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) is a trade association representing and serving as the voice of the fire sprinkler industry. NFSA exists to increase the number of lives saved from fire through the widespread acceptance of the fire sprinkler concept. NFSA offers training and technical assistance to contractor members across the country. Union sprinkler contractors, regardless of membership in the NFSA, make monthly contributions to the Industry Promotion (IP) Fund, which is managed by NFSA through the National Industry Promotion (IP) Fund Trustees. The use of these Funds is governed by the Labor Relations Advisory Committee (LRAC), which reports to the NFSA Board of Directors. These Funds are incorporated into the NFSA budget, but they are segmented from other sources of funding and may only be used to promote the fire sprinkler industry. The hourly contributions from which these Funds are derived are the direct result of cooperation between union labor and management, as indicated by the provision for IP Funds in NFSA's collective bargaining agreements with each of the 15 local unions in the fire sprinkler industry. Local IP Funds, like National IP Funds, are derived from hourly contributions from union contractors working within the jurisdiction of a particular local union. These Funds are utilized in the area in which they are collected to promote the fire sprinkler industry at the grassroots level. Local IP Funds are managed by Local IP Committees (Committees) made up of 3 to 10 union contractor members. The National Industry Promotion (IP) Administrator is a full-time position that reports directly to NFSA's Chief Financial Officer and presents to the National IP Trustees quarterly.
