Senior Engineer - Land Development | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description: The Senior Engineer is responsible for supervising staff and managing assigned engineering related programs and activities of the Land Development Program and other assigned sections in the Engineering Division within the Development Services Department. Incumbents typically sign off on plans and documents as a Professional Engineer.
The ideal candidates will have knowledge of: managerial principles and practices; customer service principles; applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, codes, rules, and regulations; principles and practices of construction management; project management principles and practices; report writing techniques; civil engineering principles; advanced mathematical concepts; accepted standards of construction materials, methods, and craftsmanship; contract management and administration principles and practices; budgeting principles; occupational hazards and safety standards. The ideal candidates will have skills in: monitoring and evaluating employees and contractors; prioritizing and assigning work; using computers and related software applications; providing customer service; managing multiple priorities simultaneously; preparing cost estimates; analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of goals; negotiating and gaining cooperation through discussion and persuasion; performing complex mathematical calculations; preparing and/or reviewing a variety of technical reports, documents, and other related correspondence; interpreting maps, drawings, legal descriptions, and plats; reading and reviewing engineering drawings and technical reports; applying Federal, regional, state, and local regulations;issuing professional opinions; developing Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications; performing engineering calculations; reading and writing legal descriptions; communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of five years experience working as a Professional Engineer and two years of supervisory experience. Required License: Professional Engineering (P.E.)
