The Product

Transmission electronic microscopes are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments that are used today. Platform Software is essential into exploiting all the potential of these microscopes, pushing the limits of current physical technologies. These tools and our software applications are used by scientists and engineers in life science, material sciences and semiconductor industry, indirectly affecting our life in many aspects. By contributing into this platform software, you might help developing better vaccines, new lighter and stronger materials, or more efficient semiconductors.

Team

The Deliver Beam & Optics group is one of the pillars of the Research and Development organization for High-End Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). We are committed to develop groundbreaking technologies, modules and software that enable us to deliver outstanding TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers.

With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for optical performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. We are seeking to convert the most promising technological concepts into real products for generating and shaping electron beams for imaging with near-perfect optical performance.

You will work closely together with other subject areas such as system engineering, customer service and operations.

The team is also responsible for maintenance, continuous improvements and collaboration with other software development teams. The developments are done in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites in Europe.

Software development takes place in an agile environment where the safe framework is applied. You will contribute to sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning. Together the product owner, the scrum master and the development team members are involved in refining the backlog. You will have a lot of freedom in this role and work in a highly innovative setting. The cool part is that the team can test their developed Software in real-time on our products.

The Position

The Product Owner has a self-propelling role, working as a member of a software development team within the R&D organization, to build a product vision and roadmap that increases value for our customers.

The team works in an agile environment where the SAFe and Scrum frameworks are applied. Together with your team members, you are responsible for the software that control the optical component of our Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) products, enabling pioneering technics to explore material up to the atomic level.

Key responsibilities include

• Translate the company's customer value propositions into meaningful, industry-leading software (sub)products, that delight our customers.


• Drive the innovative development of new products through the design, verification, and validation stages.


• Collect feedback about specific needs by communicating with collaborators on a regular basis and using this information to improve the products.


• Make the product backlog visible and clear.


• Handle incoming bug reports and change requests for the product. Handle customer concerns and blocking issues.


• Drive customer satisfaction by optimizing product performance, improving reliability and stability, continuously balancing the introduction of new features with the implementation of functional and non-functional improvements.


• Support product development budgeting, process improvement and quality assurance on a central component of our product.


• Agree with resource managers on efficient staffing of the development team.
  

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position enjoys collaboration in a multi-disciplinary technical environment to address sophisticated problems. If you enjoy the development of high-performance integrated systems, this is an excellent opportunity.

• Typically requires at least 3+ years in a software product owner role.


• Typically requires MSc, PDEng or PhD in Physics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent


• 5+ years of applicable experience in a multidisciplinary high-tech development environment.


• Ability to handle diverse objectives and problems where analysis of situation or data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors.


• Team spirit and excellent interpersonal communicational skills.


• Strong analytical view combined with pragmatic mentality.


• You dare to take initiative, you are curious and fast learning.
