POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Oversight and responsibility for Laboratory services, policies and procedures, and compliance with the College of American Pathologists regulations/requirements. Plans visionary and strategic actions for the Laboratory throughout the system in alignment with Senior Leadership strategic plans.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates long and short-term goals for the Laboratory as well as for other assigned departments as applicable; responsible for directing, planning, and facilitating process improvements in the Laboratory in a safe, consistent environment that promotes quality care and optimal patient outcomes within the constraints of available resources.
  • Maintains effective communication with all Laboratory staff and other hospital personnel; senior leadership; providers; and board members. Strives for the advancement of the Laboratory profession. Maintains awareness of legislation affecting Laboratory practice and implements as needed; acts as a resource person for all members of the department and others as requested.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • ASCP or Equivalent.
  • B.S. in Healthcare Management or Science field, or if candidate has at least 5 years of laboratory or leadership experience may have up to 1 year after start date to complete Bachelor's degree.
  • Supervisory/ leadership experience required, preferably at least 5 years.
  • Strong change management and process improvement skills.
  • Special Skills or Training Requirements
  • Lean Management or certification preferred.
  • Clinical internship preferred.
