Description: Orthopedic Surgeon Locums Job in New York ASAP Start and Ongoing Assignment # 106491
Coverage Needed:
- Need one locum for coverage to begin ASAP for up to 12 months. - April 28-May - May 10-16 - May 19-29 - June 7-20 - June 23- July 18 - July 21st-August 15 - August 18- 30
Assignment Details/Requirements:
- Ability to cover a wide range of Orthopedic Trauma cases associated with a Level III Trauma center. Secondary priority is Total Knee and Total Hip elective cases. Must be comfortable seeing ortho/hand and pediatrics. - Volume: Anticipated Procedures = 5-15 per week, Cases = 3-5 cases per day in OR, Clinic = 20-25 patients per day in clinic - Schedule: Monday through Friday: 8A-5P plus late afternoon add-ons; possible weekend rounding + patient call (not ED call of Weekend OR) - Call: Rotating Day coverage of ED related to trauma cases, plus possible non-ED weekend patient/floor call and/or rounding - Breakdown of Shifts: TBD based on OR block and as needed in clinic vs OR; 50/50 split estimate - Expectation: Fracture & bread and butter ortho trauma, Elective Total Joint replacements - Specific Procedures: Peds - closed reductions, very rare outpatient trauma cases Hand - temporize and stabilize but does include being prepared for compartment syndrome and flexor tenosynovitis evaluation and surgery if indicated. Hand surgeon available for definitive fixation Arthroplasty - Primary hip and knee arthroplasty Trauma - must be able to do any hip fracture (subtrochanteric, intertrochanteric, hemiarthroplasty), perform closed reduction and spanning external fixators (Stryker Hoffman 3 set in house) for ankle fractures, pilon fractures, plateau fractures and compartment syndrome releases. Acetabular and pelvic fractures - nonoperative management only. Open fracture debridement and stabilization. Podiatry - coverage 50% of the time, remainder is orthopedics - Fellowship: Trauma or joints fellowship preferred but not required - Provider will practice independently - EMR: EPIC - Trauma: Level III Trauma Center
