Description:
When you are part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll do ambitious work, and join a team that values performance, quality and innovation. As part of a successful, growing global organization you will be encouraged to perform at your best. With revenues of more than $40 billion and the largest investment in R&D in the industry. At Thermo Fisher Scientific, Diversity & Inclusion is vital to the future success of our organization. It is not just something we do; it is who we are. It enables our colleagues to openly share the wide range of perspectives they represent, crafting an environment where differences are truly valued, authenticity is a state-of-being, and everyone feels they belong and can do their best work.
Join our dynamic Life Sciences Business Unit team and the TEM Center-of-Excellence in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. We are dedicated to revolutionizing cryo-electron microscopy, a groundbreaking technology that has accelerated cures and vaccines and deepened our understanding of disease pathways.
We are seeking an experienced scientist with a solid background in electron cryo-tomography (cryo-ET) data collection and processing. You support the development of world-class methods for cryo-ET data that will be collected on our powerful Krios microscopes and Hydra Bio and Arctis Plasma FIB milling systems. You will lead applications development for our tomography projects with our collaborators and customers. You will collect and process tilt series datasets and perform sub-tomogram averaging analysis from purified protein samples as well as FIB milled cellular lamella. You will also work on high pressure freezing and development of FIB workflows for organoid and tissue. Furthermore, you will expand your network within the cryoEM/ET community through collaborations with new and leading customers and help craft the future of cryo-ET. You will support product development and plan, own and implement applications case studies. This will require identifying relevant samples and defining new methods and protocols for cryo-ET workflows.
Develop and evaluate cryo-ET applications with our Krios and Glacios microscopes. This will include collecting and processing high resolution datasets for cryo-ET from purified proteins and cellular lamella samples. Work with collaborators/customers to develop and implement proof of concept experiments with exciting samples including working with tissue samples. Your contributions will support directly the customer's scientific endeavor as well as feed directly into new product development at Thermo Fisher. And furthermore:
This position is ideal for an experienced electron microscopist with a familiarity of cryo-TEM operations, theory and technique including cryo-sample preparation, tilt series collection and sub-tomogram averaging. PhD degree or equivalent experience in Life Sciences, Structural Biology, CryoEM, Image processing, or X-ray crystallography.
We offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plan bonus, healthcare, and a range of employee benefits. Thermo Fisher Scientific offers employment with an innovative, forward-thinking organization, and outstanding career and development prospects. We offer an exciting company culture that stands for integrity, intensity, involvement, and innovation! |
