Position: Associate Director of Finance


Description: Title: Associate Director of Finance


Status: Exempt, Full-time, 40 hours per week


Supervisor: Vice President for Finance


Salary: $80,000 - $87,500 annual


Schedule: Monday-Friday, Hybrid Schedule


Function:


The Associate Director of Finance works as part of FSI's leadership team supporting everyone's right to thrive. In this role you will manage the fiscal activities of the agency effectively and efficiently in accordance with organization policies and procedures and in accordance to generally accepted accounting principles. Supervises staff and provides professional leadership and direction and assists management with the financial responsibilities of the organization in fulfilling the mission. Performs these duties personally or through subordinate staff.


Position Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
8 - 10 years of related experience required.
Not-for-profit experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities:


Grant/Contract Management & Compliance


Administer required records, reports, and data for programs and ensuring that all certifications, reimbursements, and funding requirements are fulfilled in a timely, accurate manner
Oversee organization's compliance with various governmental reporting requirements
Develop and maintain relationships with funder contacts as it relates to fiscal duties
Facilitate governmental and other funding source audits
Assist in developing and maintaining the organization-wide cost allocation plan, integrating organization budget and restricted and/or unrestricted funding
Monitor program budget modification process integrating program directors
Provide forecasting of fiscal outcomes to manage contracts and grants in collaboration with program leadership
Meet with management to review contract compliance and financial position
Review and approve reports generated by Grant Administrators and staff for submission to appropriate party
Develop grant/contract budgets for renewals and new opportunities
Assist VP for Finance in the agency budget development process


Accounting


Provides administrative oversight for the accounting records and ensures that programs and staff are fulfilling the organization mission in accordance with organization policies and GAAP
Facilitate annual independent audit
Direct and coordinate operational procedures for accounting and payroll functions
Manage the month-end closing processes and related deliverables among the Finance Team, particularly Staff Accountants, AP/AR specialists and related staff
Review & approve monthly bank reconciliations for all agency accounts
Maintain timely collection of accounts receivable
Cash management including approval of disbursements and assessing line of credit needs
Manage general ledger (G/L) and spreadsheet analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounts receivable/payable monitoring and analysis
Maintain corporate documents and ensure compliance with various reporting requirements of Federal and State agencies
Identify, develop, and implement streamlined accounting and financial processes as agency operations change


Supervision


Directly supervise assigned staff
Facilitate staff development and assure staff is appropriately trained to meet organizational requirements and all regulations
Provide leadership to organization staff by example, by knowledge and practice of professional skills, relationship-building and standards
Assure appropriate staffing by recruiting, interviewing, and recommending candidates for positions in accounting
Complete staff performance appraisals in a timely manner and address disciplinary issues through organization performance improvement process


General


Facilitate communication between Finance, other departments, and program staff
Participates in organization-wide and organization-appointed committees to facilitate organization program initiatives and services to the community
Responds supportively to changes in programs and policies and taking a broad view of one's position by assuming additional responsibilities when the need arises
Attend conferences, both in person and virtual, to ensure agency is knowledgeable of industry trends and issues
