Description: Position Overview: Nurse Practitioner (NP Only)
Location: Outpatient Clinic on the hospital campus Village Health Program in Barrow, AK
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8 AM 5 PM (with flexibility as needed)
Setting: Outpatient Primary Care Clinic or Village Health (assigned to one primary village, with potential coverage in up to five villages)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide full-scope primary care to patients of all ages
- If applicable, round on inpatients as needed
- Work within the Village Health Program, delivering care to remote communities
- Must have experience or a strong interest in tribal health
Requirements:
Active Alaska NP license (no exceptions must have it prior to applying)
BLS certification required (ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, ATLS preferred)
- Must complete a 30-day pre-hire trial period to assess fit before being offered a full-time position
Schedule & Work Arrangement:
Permanent Clinic & Village Health Providers work an 8 AM 4 PM schedule
Unique work cycle: Two months on, one month off (totaling 8 months of work and 4 months off per year)
Salary & Benefits:
Salary: $1,000 $1,200 per day
Paid Time Off (PTO): Not accrued, as providers receive 4 months off per year
Housing:
Furnished housing units provided (with a monthly stipend of $500 $800)
Utilities included (heat, water, trash, and a landline for local calls)
Insurance: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage available
Vision benefits: $600 per year for glasses or contacts
Retirement Contributions:
- Employer contributes 8% of salary into a 401(k) annually
- Vesting: 20% per year, fully vested after five years
- Additional contributions available to a 403(b) plan
